How it works
A constant-rate scenario, not guaranteed returns. Nominal uses annual rate ÷ 12; effective uses (1 + annual return)^(1/12) − 1. Contributions increase after each full year. Taxes, fees and inflation are excluded. Internal values are not rounded each month; displayed money is rounded.
Example
With no initial balance, 100 added at each month-end and a 0% return, 10 years gives 12,000. A 24,000 target needs 200 per month.
Which annual rate should I enter?
Choose nominal if the annual quote is divided by 12 and compounded monthly. Choose effective if the annual figure already includes compounding. The same percentage produces different results under these conventions.
